Rana el Kaliouby is a pioneer in affective computing — AI that can understand and respond to human emotions. She co-founded Affectiva, a spin-out from the MIT Media Lab, which developed emotion-recognition technologies now used in automotive safety, healthcare, and market research. Following Affectiva’s acquisition by Smart Eye, she became Deputy CEO, continuing to lead innovations at the intersection of AI, psychology, and human-machine interaction.
