Sebastian Thrun is a German-American entrepreneur, educator, and AI and robotics pioneer. He co-founded Google X, led the self-driving car initiative—including the DARPA-winning vehicle Stanley—and later founded Udacity, the online education platform delivering MOOCs to hundreds of thousands globally . As an academic, he has held professorships at Carnegie Mellon and Stanford, where he directed the Stanford AI Lab and made foundational contributions to probabilistic robotics and lifelong learning.
