Chief AI Scientist, Meta AI; Professor of Computer Science, New York University
Yann LeCun is a French computer scientist and one of the founding fathers of modern artificial intelligence. He pioneered convolutional neural networks (CNNs)—a breakthrough that made computer vision practical—and helped catalyse the deep learning revolution. As Chief AI Scientist at Meta, he leads long-term research into self-supervised learning, energy-based models, and world-model architectures for autonomous reasoning. A Turing Award laureate (with Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio), LeCun is known for combining scientific depth with open advocacy for responsible, open-source AI research.
