Jonathan Haidt is an American social psychologist known for his work on moral psychology, social cohesion, and the unintended consequences of technology on society. His research explores how moral intuitions shape political and institutional behaviour, and how social systems can fragment when trust erodes. Haidt is the author of several influential books, including The Righteous Mind, The Coddling of the American Mind, and The Anxious Generation, the latter examining how digital platforms and algorithmic systems affect mental health, democracy, and institutional resilience. While not an AI researcher, Haidt is increasingly influential in debates about AI, social media algorithms, and governance.
