Boris Cherny is a software engineer and AI product leader at Anthropic, where he created and leads the development of Claude Code, one of the industry’s leading AI coding agents. Before joining Anthropic, he spent several years as a Principal Software Engineer at Meta, helping scale engineering infrastructure for Instagram. He is also the author of O’Reilly’s Programming TypeScript, a widely respected book on modern software development. Cherny is recognised for pioneering agentic software engineering, shifting AI-assisted coding from simple code completion to autonomous agents capable of planning, editing, testing, and executing complex software development tasks.
